SSC CHSL Tier I Result has been announced on 19th May 2023. This is with reference to the 2022 cycle.  For the 2023 cycle,  the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) released the SSC CHSL 2023 Notification for filling 1600 vacancies. Every year, SSC conducts this national-level exam for selecting Higher Secondary qualified candidates for government departments and offices. The SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam 2023 is scheduled to take place between August 2 and August 22, 2023, for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria. The Staff Selection Commission conducts the National Combined High Secondary Level (10+2) exam. It is one of the most aspired examinations in the country. The Staff Selection Commission has released the final marks for the SSC CHSL exam. This is in reference to the 2021 recruitment cycle. Candidates can check their marks from 12th May to 26th May 2023 on the website of the Commission by using their Registered Login ID and Password. SSC CHSL Application Fee

The Candidates who are applying for the SSC CHSL Exam will have to pay an application fee. The application fee is meant to be paid by the candidates while submitting the application form. Check the table below to know the details.

How to Download SSC CHSL Admit Card?

Applicants have to download the admit card once the application form is filled. The admit card is usually released 1 month (approx) prior to the SSC CHSL Exam. The candidates who fail to carry the SSC CHSL Admit Card to the exam center will not be allowed to sit for the test. Candidates can download the hall ticket for the respective stage and region by following the steps given below.

Step 1: Candidates will have to proceed to their respective regional website

Step 2: A new page will appear on the candidate’s screen. Type in your Application/Registration Number and Password in the credentials section.

Step 3: Click on the submit button and the Admit Card for the written tests will be available to the candidates.

Step 4: Double-check the details on the admit card and download/printout for further use.

Step 5: Candidates can alternatively visit the official website and click on the SSC CHSL Admit Card link available on the home page.

Step 6: After doing so, candidates can follow the same procedure as given above to download the admit card.

SSC CHSL Nationality Criteria

The SSC CHSL Nationality criteria for the various posts of recruitment are defined in the official notification. Candidates must be a citizen of India. There is further clarification given in the notification regarding sub-categories falling under nationality.

Candidates have to fulfill any one of the Nationality Criteria mentioned below:

  1. A citizen of India
  2. A subject of Nepal
  3. A subject of Bhutan
  4. A person who is a Tibetan refugee
  5. Migrants from Pakistan, The United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Burma, Sri Lanka, Malawi, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Zaire, Vietnam and Ethiopia to permanently settle in India.

Candidates falling in the above-mentioned categories need to provide a relevant certification for verification purposes. Failure of this will result in a disqualification of candidature.

SSC CHSL Age Limit

SSC CHSL Age Limit For Various Posts – Between 18 years and 27 years (As of 01/01.2023). In other words, candidates should have not been born earlier than 02/01/1996 and later than 01/01/2005. However, there are a few age relaxations for various categories which are given below.

SSC CHSL Educational Qualification

You have to fulfill the qualification requirements laid down by the (SSC CHSL) in its notification. Here is the detailed educational qualification for the post of SSC CHSL Recruitment in 2022.

SSC CHSL Selection Process

The Commission selects the candidates based on three stages i.e. the SSC CHSL selection process will consist of a Computer Based Test of Two Tiers of exams:

  1. Tier-I
  2. Tier-II (Also includes Skill Test /Typing Test)
  3. Document /Certificate Verification

Candidates who qualify in Tier 1 and Tier 2 will be eligible to appear for the skill test/typing test exam.

The Tier 1 exam consists of multiple-choice questions from all four sections. Candidates must score the minimum qualifying marks in each section to be eligible to appear for Tier 2.

The Tier 2 exam is a descriptive paper in which candidates are required to write essays, letters, applications and precis. The minimum qualifying mark in this paper is 33%. The Tier 2 exam also includes skill test for candidates applying for the post of Data Entry Operator and a typing test for the post of Lower Division Clerk. This is according to the new exam pattern released for 2022-23 cycle. Candidates must qualify this exam in order to be selected for the post.

After qualifying through the above three stages candidates have to go through document verification  for the SSC CHSL Selection Process.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern for Tier 1

The following table covers the Tier I exam pattern. Note the subjects, no. of questions, marks, and time duration of the paper.

  • Tier-I will be an online exam.
  • Tier-I Exam is qualifying in nature.
  • The total time duration is 60 minutes.
  • Each question will be for 2 marks.
  • For incorrect answers, ½ mark will be deducted.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern for Tier 2

  • Tier 2 will be held in 2 sessions i.e. Session I & Session II on the same day.
    • Session I will include Section I, Section II, and Module-I of Section III.
    • Session II will include Module II of Section III.
  • It will be mandatory for the candidates to qualify for all Tier 2 sections.
  • Tier 2 will consist of objective type multiple choice questions, except for Module II of Section III. The questions will be set in English and Hindi except for Module II (i.e. English Language and Comprehension) in Section II.
  • There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section I, Section II and Module I of Section III. Candidates are advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
  • Module I of Section III i.e. Computer Knowledge Test is mandatory but qualifying in nature.
  • Skill Test/ Typing Test will be of qualifying nature.
  • Part A – Skill Test for the post of DEO/ DEO Grade ‘A’:
    • Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (Eight Thousand) Key Depressions per hour on the Computer will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/ key depressions as per the given passage.
  • Part B – Typing Test for other posts i.e. LDC/ JSA:
    • Candidates opting for English medium should have a typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.). Those opting for Hindi medium should have a typing speed of 30 words per minute (w.p.m.). 35 w.p.m. and 30 w.p.m. correspond to about 10500 key depressions per hour and about 9000 key depressions per hour respectively.

The candidates will have to qualify this exam as this is just qualifying in nature. They will have to perform their best in the skill test.

How Many Attempts for SSC CHSL Exam

There is no well-defined number of attempts set by the recruiting body, but the age criteria have been well-established by the recruiting board. Therefore, a candidate can only apply for the SSC CHSL Recruitment post within the given age limit. Thus, make sure you are between the age group of 18 to 27 years while applying for this exam.

As discussed earlier, the details regarding the SSC CHSL Salary are now available. The salary structure of the various posts in SSC CHSL includes basic pay, HRA, TA, and gross salary.
